Red Bull Music took over 27th and Larimer this past Saturday to present a Goodness Block Party, a celebration of Denver's music and community. The day-long event was inspired by DJ Low Key’s longstanding party “Goodness” at longtime home, The Meadowlark. Goodness has become a signature event in the city’s RiNo neighborhood since it's debut in 2012. Goodness Block Party featured a stacked lineup of hip-hop and soul inspired artists including DJ Low Key, DJ Jazzy Jeff, YaSi, CRL CRRLL, Phonte,TiRon & Ayomari, Exile, Kayla Marque, Sur Ellz, including the debut of Goodness Greatness an all-star band. You couldn't help but feel the Goodness in the air.
DJ Low Key welcomed Goodness Block Party & Red Bull Music with an overwhelming amount of love for Denver and our ever-growing music scene.
The stage featured a slew of local artists starting with familiar faces, CRL CRRLL and Yasi. Their sound was unmistakeable, delivering a unique sound that the crowd could not get enough of. Judging by the sounds and sights of it, attendees quickly fell in love with up-and-coming stars, Kayla Marque, Kid Astronaut, Sur Ellz, and Mandy Yoches as they performed flawlessly, spreading good vibes all over the city.
The surprises didn't stop there, the day was filled with special guest performances by Tiron & Ayormari and Phonte. but the biggest suprise was when Legendary producer Exile brought out LA hip hop Legend Blu. DJ Low Key even told the crowd, "If you dont know these guys ... you're in for a treat." The notorious Hip Hop duo showed no hesitation proving why they are nothing less than lyrical legends. As a fan, It truly was an unbelievable moment to catch them live in the Mile High.
Headlining the night was the magnificent, DJ Jazzy Jeff! When Jazzy Jeff took over the boards, he showed exactly why he is one of the best scratch DJ's in the world. Keeping the party in full swing, playing so many groovy tunes, the crowd couldn't help but to dance and sing along. DJ Jazzy Jeff also brought Colorado's own, Stro Elliot (The Roots), up on stage as he tore up the crowd with his amazing finger drumming.
Goodness Block Party came out and did what they did best, throw a damn good party. Goodness Block Party celebrated Soul and Hip Hop; I think it brought Denver a little closer with big opportunities for the future. Goodness block party was the perfect way to end the summer.
Big Shoutout to DJ LowKey for Making goodness happen!
